Tips&Care: Phyllanthus mirabilis

Red wine color on leaves is one of interesting in this plant also very unique of fold together in pairs like butterfly wing at dusk and open again in the morning. Originally found on high mountain 100M above sea levels on the rock where has mosses grow to keep them moisture. Most people plant it as bonsai.

From my experience, sometimes the leaves aren't opened...I was worried and tried to figure out. I found that it can happen when too much sunlight and you may water too less too so it closes itself or too less sunlight cannot acivate plants to open. Mostly is from too less because I plant indoor and it likes to be very closed to window.

Do you know the name in Thai means bring wealthy to your life.

.

Light:

In the begin growing baby leaves may place in bright area and no strong sunlight. After it has full big leaves can be in full sunlight. My suggestion placing in indirect sunlight will be the best for plants and it grows like crazy. On the mountain as usual will be cool at night and hot in daytime. So this plants adapt with climate very well also easy to get new leaves.

.

Soil:

Generally just prepare well drainage soil is enough.

.

I use my mixture of soil (see the post before in#inkcactitips)

.

Before potting I put 1cm thick peat moss covering the surface of soil in the hole for faster produces rootings.

.

Watering:

Watering when the soil is dry. And water until the water drop from bottom hole.💧I water once a week. This is one of required very less watering schedule. You can water twice in a month too.

.

This plant is very easy growing its beautiful is also the variety of caudiciform that why I'm open for selection of each caudex in my online listing.

.

To get the first sprouting need both humid in soil and sunlight. Just keep calm and patient to water every week. And plant all legs part in soil (1/3 of its tall) to get roots easily.

.

Be careful caudex can get dry and hollow inside when not enough water. This is one of the reasons cause it's dead.
